| The tennis grounds 1937 | Ray Keenan – Pompallier’s No:1 |
Pompallier Lawn Tennis Club was established in 1965. The club is nestled amongst a picturesque tree setting in St Mary’s Bay. It quietly boasts a proud history that goes back 40 years making it one of the premier clubs in Auckland. This personable and friendly club caters for all ages and skill levels. Pompallier has five all weather astro courts allowing play all year round, with the summer months (October to March) being a busy time with social and competition activities.
Court usage
Outside of organised club days the courts must be booked. This can be done by either calling the club and booking with someone PERSONALLY, or filling in a booking sheet situated between the men’s and ladies changing rooms (summer). When courts are busy bookings can be made for 1 hour only finishing on the hour. All players names are to be entered on the sheet. Members have preference over guests from 6–8 pm.
Courts are open
Monday–Friday 7am–10pm except specific tournament days. Midweek & Junior membership only entitles members to play daytime Monday–Friday 7am–5pm (excepts junior squads).
Court lights
The switches are situated between the men’s and women’s changing rooms and can be used up to 10pm.
Pompallier is a members only club
Visitors may use the club courts if they are accompanied by a member, up to 3 times or on a social Wednesday after which they must join. Visitors must pay $10 into the fee/honesty box before they commence play (situated inside the main gate) and must wear correct tennis attire. Members hosting visitors are responsible for fees paid.
